The annual event, hosted by the Wizards Against Cancer Club brings together the Washingtonville Central School District community for a positive cause. The Wizards Against Cancer club is a student-run club that helps build and further a communal support structure for those suffering from (or supporting someone with) cancer. They brainstorm ideas for fundraisers to raise money for local families, The Hudson Valley Cancer Research Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and The American Cancer Society. Some of their other events include the No One Fights Alone parade, which promotes awareness for Breast Cancer and promotes assistance for further research and development.

Spectators watched a friendly game of volleyball played by the girls varsity volleyball team and the boys varsity football team, as well as a staff volleyball game. During halftime, attendees enjoyed a game of trivia and musical chairs.

Money gained from the event will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Wizards Against Cancer club also accepted donations for the Caudy Family, a family in need of a liver transplant.

“I joined the club during my freshman year because I’ve always had an interest in helping out my community,” said Avery Upeslacis, who is the president of the Wizards Against Cancer club. “The second I joined the group, I realized how important everyone’s role is and having that collective support system.”
