On Saturday, March 1st, the WHS Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) Team A won the regional competition held by the World Affairs Councils of America-MidHudson Valley (WAC-MHV). The competition took place at the FDR Presidential Library Historic Site, Henry A. Wallace Center in Hyde Park. Team members included seniors Brady Crowe, Team Vice-President Samantha Maronna, Team President Eva DeMarco-and junior Andrew McCauley. The Regional win entitles the group to compete in the National Competition in Washington D.C. on April 28th and 29th.
AWQ fosters global awareness by challenging high school teams with a rigorous, knowledge-based competition spanning international affairs, economics, geography, history, and current events. Sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America, WAC-MHC with contributions from the AWQ Task Force and support from organizations like the US Institute of Peace, Foreign Policy Association, Council on Foreign Relations, and Financial Times, AWQ provides comprehensive resources for participants and is designed to cultivate a deeper understanding of the world and inspire a culture of global engagement within schools nationwide.
