March 19th:
The GEMS in STEM will be hosting their first ever STEM Extravaganza in the Middle School for middle school girls. The GEMS will be engaging their younger counterparts in 3 STEM related hands-on activities to introduce them to the possibility of STEM careers and to inspire them to work towards reducing the gender gap in STEM fields. The activities included are:
(1) Flight Lab - Think Like An Inventor
(2) Science Experiment - Think Like A Scientist
(3) Engineering Challenge - Think Like An Engineer
The activities will be run by HS GEMS role models and are designed to be fun, inspiring, and engaging.
March 24th:
The GEMS in STEM will be hosting a guest speaker. Jillian Gonzalez, the owner of The Five Foot Baker in Washingtonville, (a female entrepreneur & also a WHS graduate) will be visiting the HS to talk to female students about: female business ownership, entrepreneurship, finding your passion, and following your dreams with determination & drive.
